Hyrum Lovell
Joseph
Hyrum Lovell was born August 3, 1844 in Nauvoo, Illinois to John Lovell
and Ann Parsons. He married Leah Ellen
Radford on August 30, 1869 in
Salt Lake City, Utah. They had eleven children: Joseph Edmund, Martha
Ellen, John Franklin, Edmund, Leah Ann,
James William, Elizabeth Jane, George Hyrum, Sylvia, Ada, and Mary Josephine.
Joseph was the first baby born in Nauvoo
after Joseph and Hyrum Smith were killed, and was named after the martyred
brothers. His family travelled to Utah when he was seven years old. After
marrying, he settled in Oak City, Utah where he became a succesful farmer
and stockraiser. Later in life, he moved his family to Star Valley, Wyoming.
Joseph died on January 16, 1918 and
is buried in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
