Martha
Webb Campkin was
born October 11, 1820 in Cambridge, England to De Grass Webb and Mary
Jackson. She married Thomas Young.
They had three children: Fannie, Thomas
Henry, and Albert Horbert.
Martha's first husband, Isaac Campkin,
died in 1856 in St. Louis, Missouri as the family was travelling across
the plains to Utah. After his death, she proceeded to bring her five
young children to Salt Lake City as part of the James Willie Handcart
Company.
Martha died on January 31, 1898 and
is buried in Brigham City, Utah.
